Bali combines peace and culture like few other places: rice fields and temples inland, cliffs and beaches on the coast. A good route brings out the best of both.
A route of two to three weeks
- Ubud, 4–5 nights. Jungle, rice terraces, yoga and great food. Choose a villa overlooking the valley.
- The coast, 6–8 nights. Uluwatu for cliffs and sunsets, Nusa Dua or Sanur for calm water.
- Optional island, 3–4 nights. The Gili Islands, Lombok or Nusa Lembongan for even more peace.
What I look out for
- Travel time on the island. Traffic in Bali is heavy. A logical order saves hours in the car.
- Privacy. Many hotels have villas with their own pool. In Bali, that's often what makes the difference.
- The season. In the rainy season I choose differently than in the dry season.

Frequently asked questions
When is the best time for a honeymoon in Bali?
The dry season runs roughly from April to October. November to March is the rainy season: often short, heavy showers, a green landscape and fewer crowds.
Ubud or the beach?
Both. Start in Ubud for jungle, rice fields and culture, and finish on the coast, for example in Uluwatu for cliffs and sunsets, or Nusa Dua for calm beaches.
How long should a honeymoon in Bali be?
Two to three weeks. It's a long journey, so anything shorter is a shame. With three weeks you can add a quiet nearby island as well.
